About Us...

Hi there, we are The Manx Lobster, also known as Michael & Tracey welcome to our small, independent family business which is based in Port St Mary, on the Isle of Man.

How It All Began...

The Manx Lobster has been established and growing since 2020 after we purchased our small, commercial potting boat, Vervain and took over our own little factory in our hometown Port St Mary.

Michael has been pleasure fishing since he could walk and commercial fishing since 2016, to say he is obsessed with it is definitely an understatement as he would live out there if given the chance. So when the opportunity arose to undertake his own boat and then buy out an existing Port St Mary seafood provider we knew there was a gap in the market to be a little different and so The Manx Lobster was born. 

 

What Makes Us Different?... 

We decided to begin The Manx Lobster as we wanted to offer completely fresh crab, lobster & fish in order to showcase the fantastic taste and quality of Manx seafood. 

So many companies, large & small continuously batch cook and prepare shellfish which is then frozen down to stock. This is then defrosted when required and sold as "Fresh". Once a product has been frozen it is effected in a negative way by impacting the quality and flavor.   

The Manx Lobster is different! We mainly take pre-orders for our items then cook and prepare the amount required the day before it is sold. This means you are getting the freshest, highest quality product which tastes absolutely amazing and completely different to supermarket bought shellfish. By doing it this way not only ensures quality but also assists with sustainability as we are only cooking what is required.

We also offer seasonal items such as Queenies, King Scallops and Mackerel. They are freshly caught and sourced the day before sale to guarantee the quality. 

- Queenie season runs from July to September

- King Scallops are from November to May

- Mackerel are from May to September 

 

Our Passion...

We absolutely love what we do from fishing to cooking, and of course meeting all our lovely customers! We are proud to offer fantastic quality, fresh Manx Seafood to everyone. 

We are constantly growing and developing into further ranges and will also be offering a more diverse range of fish in the near future

 

All our crab, lobster and fish has been caught in Manx waters. We catch, source, cook and smoke it all ourselves in our small factory in Port St Mary. 

We have also been awarded the Product of Isle of Man certification accross all our products which certifies they are 100% of Manx origin.

In September 2023 we also became the 350th partner of Unesco Biosphere Isle of Man where we pledge to do what we can to help build towards a more sustainable future. This has always been a major part of our business model which is why we mainly cook to order once per week, this ensures very minimal food waste as we only cook what is required.
